Disney recently announced FASTPASS changes are coming to the Disneyland Resort later in 2017! It will be called MaxPass. The Disney FASTPASS is one of the best ways to make the most of your time at the Disney Parks. This landmark innovation was first introduced at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World in 1999 as a way to provide guests with faster access to the fun.
What Is FASTPASS?
It’s a virtual queuing system that allows guests to avoid long lines at the attractions and freeing them to enjoy other attractions during their wait. Believe me, the skip-the-line FASTPASS makes the Disneyland experience much more appealing. But one of the biggest drawbacks to the system is having to trek across the theme parks to get a pass, only to turn back around at a later time to gain admission. You can only reserve 3 FASTPASSES at a time and there are a limited number of FASTPASSES per attraction. On days the park is filled to capacity they run out fast.
What the MaxPass Means to You
Disney MaxPass digital booking could make your Disneyland visit effortless. For example, it can ensure you’ll cut the epic lines at Radiator Springs Racers while boarding Haunted Mansion on the other end of the parks. It’s an optional service that will allow you to reserve FASTPASSES through your smartphone using the Disneyland mobile app.
The Disney MaxPass will also include unlimited downloads of your high-resolution PhotoPass images on the day of purchase, including your character encounters and those on-ride shots. Disney MaxPass is only for day-of FASTPASS ticketing, and you may only reserve a FASTPASS while inside Disneyland or Disney California Adventure.
The Disney Parks Blog says that while Disney MaxPass will be $10 per ticket (per person), one person in the party will be able to manage the FASTPASS reservations for the entire party from one device. While Disney MaxPass is an optional paid service, the existing paper ticketed FASTPASS service will continue to be free. They can be used together.
Disney also announced that FASTPASS has been added to Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland and Toy Story Mania at Disney California Adventure. The launch date of Disney MaxPass has not yet been announced, but if it means more rides and less waiting during your next Disneyland trip, it can’t come soon enough.
